CKV Club Parník
The well-known and acclaimed Polish vibraphonist, composer and arranger Irek Glyk will perform in a duo with one of the best Polish pianists Piotr Matusik. The duo has performed on many concert stages around the world. The concert is a prologue and the first invitation to the Jazz Open Ostrava 2023 festival.

Jam sessions - impromptu gatherings of musicians making music on the spot - have always been a part of jazz. They allow musicians to gain inspiration and experience and are a unique opportunity for newcomers to meet experienced players on stage. New, often unexpected music is created right before their eyes, and players and listeners are drawn into a beautiful musical adventure. Groove jams at Dock are one of the regular events of this kind. The jam session will be opened with a house band and a drum set, combos and microphones will be provided for others who would like to join the session. Bring your personal instruments. Come and play, sing or just have a drink and listen.
Admission is voluntary.

Composer and pianist Emil Viklický has been a major figure on the jazz scene for almost fifty years. A graduate of mathematics who later gained a scholarship to Berklee College Of Music. After returning to Prague he developed his career in international ensembles and became a renowned pianist and composer in the Czech Republic and abroad. His trademark was his ability to combine modern expressive jazz with Moravian-folk melodicism and tonality. He is still a very active musician today, spending much of his artistic life on international stages in Europe, in the USA and Japan. We are honoured to introduce him into the Hall of Fame as this year's Laureate. His trio will be joined by drummer Jiří Stivín Jr. and Petr Dvorský on double bass.
Český Rozhlas Ostrava
Last year, Ostrava jazz legend Boris Band Combination featuring Jiri Halada (saxophone) set the sold-out Dock on fire so much that we want to enjoy the concert again. Moreover, you won’t see this lineup for a long time. Drummer Kristýna Sibinská received a full scholarship to the most prestigious music school in the world - Berklee College of Music in Boston, so this concert is a kind of temporary farewell and celebration of her extraordinary achievement.
Jiří Halada - saxophone / EWI, Boris Urbánek - keyboards, Michal Žáček - saxophone, Jan Tengler - saxophone, Vít Štajgl - guitar, Jenny Krompolc - bass guitar, Kristýna Sibinská - drums.
Silesian Ostrava Castle
The festival day will be opened by a group of young students of the Ježek Conservatory in Prague. Despite their youth, the musicians have convinced us of their extraordinary qualities and we believe that these "Jazz Juniors" will be a great surprise for theour audience.
Nicolas Gatto - Piano, Synth, Vít Štaigl - Guitar, František Vaníček - Trumpet, Samuel Kuba - Bass, Adam Dzuro - Drums
A trio that will set the venue on fire! We have been looking forward to this show since we saw it live at the Black Sea Jazz Festival in Batumi. Explosive groove funk and soul masterfully performed by graduates of prestigious music schools and in-demand sidemen who have been playing together in various bands for over a decade. This is the power of a Boeing 747 taking off and you want to be on board!
J.J. Fleck - lead singer / drummer, Pascal "P" Kaeser - bass / synth, Sam Siegenthaler - guitar
A trio of school friends thought they'd record a few covers in their own arrangement... and quite unexpectedly became global stars thanks to viral videos. Over time, these virtuoso musicians were picked up by world-class producers, including Quincy Jones (who produced Michael Jackson's Thriller and many other hits that you can't imagine a music heaven without). In 2014 they released the bestselling CD Loopified, with which they toured the world as the support act for Maroon 5. In 2021, the album Phoenix and in 2022, together with guitarist Cory Wong, the CD Turbo. Dirty Loops are one of the most in-demand bands in the world today. The band will perform in Ostrava for the first time as part of a European tour that includes more than 13 countries. This will be an extraordinary evening!
Jonah Nilsson - lead singer / keys, Henrik Linder - bass, Aron Mellergard - drums
